Identify Actions

The identify actions component allows users to use a decision process to identify actions and use models to test alternative management scenarios to help choose the optimal set of management practices. The decision process is based on pollution prevention to pollution reduction concept. The primary tool is the CBP Phase V Watershed model and the new user interface known as “Vortex”. The Watershed model and “Vortex” will allow users to request creation of model input data, explore alternative management scenarios, and visualize and analyze nitrogen and phosphorus loading to the land. In the future, information on the cost effectiveness of management actions will be added as well as links to other models (such as state and local government efforts).

Decision process for identifying actions follows a prevention to reduction process:
Preventive measures
Nutrient use efficiency
Production management
In-field nutrient control
Edge-of-field nutrient control
