On May 12, 2009, President Barack Obama signed an Executive Order that recognizes the Chesapeake Bay as a national treasure and calls on the federal government to lead a renewed effort to restore and protect the nation’s largest estuary and its watershed.
As part of the Executive Order Federal agencies are required to strengthen scientific support for decision making to restore the Chesapeake Bay and its watershed. To meet this requirement Federal agencies are working together to build an interagency decision support hub as is descibed under section 202f of the Executive Order.
